3D Kitchen by Phaway Lib - Bogota NJ

The Story
The client wanted warm wood, a social island for breakfasts and gatherings, and “pro” appliances without sacrificing order or circulation. Our challenge: maximum functionality with a premium look—and a layout that follows National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) guidelines so it feels comfortable and safe for years.
The Concept
We designed a U with an island: a long, bright prep run under the window, a double-oven column for serious baking, a statement hood over the cooktop, and a panel/SS fridge at the end so the flow stays clean. The result: a kitchen that works like a professional workshop but feels like the warm heart of the home.

People and culture
What You See (and why)
Honey-tone wood + “calacatta” quartz on counters and a waterfall island: timeless combo; veining wraps the volume and elevates the scene.
Island for 3 with comfortable overhang: perfect for breakfast, homework, or serving.
Double-oven column at the right height so trays load/unload without bending.
Wine storage and smart cabinetry flanking the window: beauty + function.
Architectural hood and a wide burner line: real cooking, real ventilation.
Corner sink to free the window run as a prep/serving zone.
Details You Don’t See but You Feel
Warm under-cabinet task lighting with no shadows.
Soft-close hardware; interior organization (bins, spice pullout, pots).
Clean stone joins; edge radii and terminations built to last.
NKBA Compliance (key dimensions)
(We show numbers because ergonomics matter—so it “feels right” every day.)
Work aisles: ≥ 42″ for one cook (≈44″ between island and perimeter used).
General walkways: ≥ 36″ clear.
Landing areas:
Cooking: ≥12″ one side and ≥15″ the other.
Primary sink: ≥24″ one side and ≥18″ the other.
Refrigerator: ≥15″ nearby set-down surface.
Oven/tower: ≥15″ adjacent landing.
Dishwasher: within 36″ of the sink with clear front space to open and move.
Island seating: 24″ width per person; 15″ knee clearance at 36″ height; ≥44″ behind if there’s through-traffic.
Work zones (triangle or zones): no cross-traffic and balanced distances to avoid extra steps.
In short: every axis—steps, heights, landings, and radii—was drawn to NKBA guidelines for true comfort and safety, not just a pretty picture.
The Result
A kitchen that performs when it’s time to cook and embraces when the family gathers. Warm, orderly, bright, and ready for daily use.
